Environmental: We were invited to try this new restaurant in Kuwait. Located in Salhiya right next to Fauchon.  Me & Q80 In Denver decided to go and we were allowed to bring a couple of friends with us.

Q80 In Denver:  When we entered this cozy restaurant/café we’ve been greeted by the owner and we got seated right away. Few weeks ago, a couple of reviewers who came to the restaurants had to stick to whatever the owner served them because they didn’t have the menu at that time.  Lucky for us, the official menu just got printed out a few days ago so we started going through the menu to decide what to order for each course.

f2

Environmental: The menu has SO MANY items that I was worried that I have to come here at least 10 times to try everything! There is too much variety to choose from!

Q80 In Denver:  The menu was a bit confusing at first because the pages were cut in half. For example, you will be seeing the appetizer pages one half on the right, the other on the left and so on.  On the other hand, I really liked the design of the menu; I thought the pages looked clear, colorful, and the pictures were MOUTHWATERING!

f3

Q80 In Denver: We started off with drinks, 2 of us had “Kiwi Shaker” (Lemon, mint, chunks of Kiwi) I thought the drink was O.K

f4

Q80 In Denver: For the appetizers we had “Smokey Shrimps”, “Risotto Balls”, “Pepperoni Fries”, “Bolognese Fries”

Q80 In Denver:  For the burgers, we had “Kamikaze Burger” and “Marrakech Burger”.

Q80 In Denver:  For the pasta section we had “Lasagna Trio” which consisted of Spinach Lasagna, Meat Lasagna, and Mushroom Lasagna.

Environmental: As for the fondue, we picked “2 Cheese Fondue” and we had to choose 3 types of food to dip so we chose (Beef Tenderloin, Sausages, and Mushrooms). The fondues already come with complementary sides of Bread, Pickles and Olives.

Q80 In Denver: Finally for dessert, we went with “Kick Balls”, “Alina Chocolate Pudding”, “Crème Brulee” and “The Chocolate Fondue”

Q80 In Denver: When we got appetizers, I noticed and felt that the restaurant/Café is more like a “Tenegneg” place (hatha el 7ache 7eg el shabab :p) than a Restaurant Restaurant!  Because the portions were small for most of the things.

Environmental: one thing I was debating with Q80 In Denver was that if the portions were large then we would be in a big trouble! We ordered too much food! But luckily the portions were good enough!

f5

Q80 In Denver : Back to the appetizers :p “The Smokey Shrimps” were consisted of (Half portion fried shrimps, Half portion fried corn) came in a small bowl .. The taste… Well, I thought the shrimps were a bit dried out and the corn was forgettable. Afterwards, we had a taste of the Risotto Balls .. it had a crust from the outside and a nice touch of melting cheddar cheese with the risotto from the inside.

Environmental: those dishes came with four kind of sauces, Mushroom sauce, Tomato & Cilantro (Taste like Tartar sauce), Sweet Chili, and Avocado. We all LOVED the mushroom sauce except for one of us who doesn’t even like mushrooms J we also liked sweet chili. But we thought that the avocado doesn’t taste like avocado at all… When I tried it I could feel it a LITTLE bit .. chenna el avocado meste7e men elsaany :P

Q80 In Denver: Then things got better! J We were looking forward to tasting the Pepperoni Fries .. And we weren’t disappointed!! The name says it all… Bowl of fries topped with Pepperoni, spicy sauce, and little of a white sauce underneath the fries… it felt like eating a pizza through fries! We liked it a lot! J at the same time we got the Bolognese Fries AKA “Chili Cheese Fries” and we liked that too :)

f6

Q80 In Denver: the Burgers. This was tough category considering that Kuwait is filled with many Burger joints, this had a lot of challenge. We had 2 burgers, the Kamikaze Burger (Burger, Cheese, BBQ sauce) and Marrakech Burger (Burger with Arabic Spices, Mustard). We thought that the Marrakech burger was the better burger, it had a homey feeling burger but we were annoyed with the bun. The bun was cold and really dry :/

f7

Environmental: I didn’t try the burgers, but I noticed that the serving of burgers is quiet different than usual as they serve you the burger using 2 plates, one with half of the bun with the sauce (e.g. Mustard) and the other plate has the other half with the meat and veggies that are already in. We were waiting for other stuff that u we could add to the burger (as we could customize it) but nothing came in so we didn’t know the purpose of that way of serving!

f8

Q80 In Denver: Afterwards, they served us the beautifully looking “Lasagna Trio”. A three shaped glasses filled with 3 different kind of lasagna (Meat Lasagna, Creamy Mushroom Lasagna, and Spinach Lasagna). The meat lasagna is the BOMB! :P All of us loved it! J The creamy mushroom lasagna was nice but the spinach lasagna sadly was lacking flavor. I would definitely would order the trio again but only with the meat lasagna :)

f9

Environmental: As for the cheese fondue, I was expecting more as I LOVE “the Melting Pot restaurant” in the US. I thought I would get something similar to that, but it doesn’t mean that this fondue is not great! It Is great. Two of us (including myself) liked the sausages the best. We liked the beef tenderloin, but for some reason Q80 In Denver loved the beef tenderloin more than anything else, and one of our friends agreed with him as well.

f10

f11

Q80 In Denver:  The beef tenderloin was marinated nicely and tasted good. One more thing about the cheese fondue, I would really change the cheese into a melting cheese other than Cheddar. I understand that it might (Melting Cheese) smell, but the taste and the experience of the melting cheese would definitely change my view over this Fondue and would put it on the top of everything we’ve tried.

f12

Q80 In Denver: The Desserts. We had the Kick Balls, Alina Chocolate Pudding, Crème Brulee, and the Chocolate Fondue. The Kick Balls were Kick ass! :) White and Black cheesecake covers the mysterious chocolate ball inside which surprisingly came out to be MALTESERS! :) . Alina Chocolate Pudding was awesome! :) Big Hot chocolate molten pudding with chocolate flakes on top!  There was a sauce that came with this pudding but nobody noticed it because every one of us were fighting over this plate :p The Crème Brulee and The Chocolate Fondue were Goodish.

f13

Environmental: ALINA CHOCOLATE PUDDING FOR THE WIN! We loved all the desserts basically!

Finals Words:

Highlights of the evening:-

1-      The Lasagna Trio (Only Meat)

2-      Pepperoni Fries, Bolognese Fries

3-      Alina Chocolate Pudding, Kick Balls

Both of us liked the atmosphere, the place is amazing. Nice lightning and decors. Nice location, nice menu choices, friendly waitresses/waiters. I would really go again and enjoy there, whether I was hungry or not, you will definitely order something as you won’t resist!

    @N

Following the highlights at the end will hopefully lead u to a “yummy” night :p

P.S: I totally agree with u with the restroom “issue” :)

  15. MB says:

I did not go to the restaurant, but I cannot imagine going to a place to eat with no restrooms.
The pics all over the blogs look amazing, but im sure that the views all the bloggers expressed would be positive due to one major fact: the owners invited you and knew you were posting about it, so its no rocket science, i would prepare the food myself and make sure everything is 200% perfect.

  16. Q80 In Denver says:

    @MB
I agree with u that some of the blogs don’t want to hurt the owners and their business so they hold their REAL opinion to themselves but with us “wallah el 3a’6eem” we are telling u exactly what we think .. And as ilsul6ana said look back to our review and u can see enaa “thamaina” some of the things that we tried. Moreover, u can see that we focus on food more than anything else :)

P.S: check our al-sanawbar review (we got no invitation on that) :)

” we focus on food more than anything else ”

    hatha she3ari bel7aya asasan ;p

  18. MB – People, PLEASE do not put words into my mouth, I know you dont lie, I wouldn’t read this blog if I had a 1% doubt of the credibility.
What I said is that the owners would try their best to get the best image/taste out to you guys, knowing that you will be posting. Very simple.

    Thanks.
